Aja Dang is a TV personality, model, actress, spokeswoman, and environmental advocate, with a passion for sports and geek culture. She has a natural ability to establish an instant connection with anyone, allowing her to get all the answers to your juiciest questions. With more than eight years of on-camera experience and a Masters Degree in Broadcast Journalism from USC, Aja isn’t just another pretty face. She has the ability to get her hands dirty behind the camera in the creative process and in-front of the camera, bringing a more interactive and engaging qualities to her segments. Aja has worked with Maxim Magazine, FX Networks, Fox Sports, Clevver Movies, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area and Xbox LIVE.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Aja spent her days with her family, at the beach and playing sports like volleyball and track and field. Her first big break came from an Ala Moana Mall christmas catalogue in 1997. Soon after, commercials and major print ads followed, both locally and internationally, accumulating in a swimsuit campaign for Loco Boutique in 2005.
After high school graduation, she moved to San Francisco where modeling took a backseat to her studies as she pursued a B.A. in marketing from the University of San Francisco. She loves the city and still considers San Francisco her second home and while Aja attended USF she participated in clubs like the Hawaiian Club, Hawaiian Ensemble and the speech and debate team. The only modeling she did during her undergraduate studies was for the Campus Girls USA swimsuit calendar, which was shot in the Virgin Islands in 2008.
After graduating summa cum laude from USF, Aja moved down to Los Angeles to get her Masters in broadcast journalism from the Annenberg School of Journalism at the University of Southern California. As a student she worked as a journalist for Neon Tommy and KCET in Los Angeles. She covered everything from local and national politics, environmental issues and the Los Angeles Unified School District. While she had a popular weekly entertainment column at Neon Tommy called Blacklisted, she used her free time to write investigative pieces on the environment – one of her passions. Aja’s most popular article, LA’s Plastic and Paper Bag Ban Built on Past Mistakes was praised by environmental activists and major manufacturer companies for being one of the most honest and unbiased articles about the topic.
While pursuing her Masters, Aja got back into modeling as a side job. She landed feature roles in two of Miguel’s music video’s “Quickie” and “Girls Like You” and had the honor of being named one of Maxim Magazines Top 10 Hometown Hotties in 2011. In 2012 she started a Youtube show called ‘Ask Aja’ where fans could ask her advice on relationship issues and she would give her opinion on the topic. After receiving her Masters, she was a host at Clevver Movies, which recently hit 1,000,000,000 Youtube views milestone and she co-founded an environmental lifestyle website called Eco-istas that promoted an ethical and sustainable lifestyle.
Aja continues to live in LA where she leads a very busy life. She continues to be Maxim Magazine's go-to sports and geek girl and currently hosts a sports show called ’1 on 1 Sports’ where she travels around the country interviewing athletes before she gets to learn a particular skill within their sport. To date, Aja has interviewed athletes including Shaq, Robert Guerrero, Floyd Mayweather and Ed O’Neil. She has also covered major events like the Superbowl, Comic Con and E-3 for the magazine, including Maxim sponsored red carpet events. Aja has parlayed her sports journalism experience into working with Fox Sports with a show called 'The Best Dang Sports Show'.
